I received my Bachelor of Science degree in
Social Ecology at the University of California, Irvine where I had a double emphasis in Psychology and Criminal Justice. I completed my Master's degree in Counseling at California State University, Fullerton. While working toward licensure hours, I spent numerous hours at an outpatient clinic where I received valuable experience with various populations. This is where I realized my passion to work with people who were hurt, in pain, struggling and trying to improve the quality of their lives. I spent the next 14 years at a residential treatment facility, Crittenton Services for Children and Families. While there, I had the privilege of working with abused and neglected children and adolescents who trusted me to guide them through the healing process. Working in residential treatment and now in private practice since 2010, I have experience in working with abuse, neglect, dual diagnosis, family conflict, adolescent and young adults issues, crisis management, addiction, depression, anxiety and behavioral problems. Additionally, I have worked in recovery at different intensive outpatient drug and alcohol programs where I have been able to blend a holistic approach with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. When appropriate, relaxation, mindfulness and guided imagery techniques are practiced in session. Additionally, I have completed Reiki Level I and Level 2 Certification and I am a Certified Yoga Instructor. I have been practicing yoga for over 20 years which enhances my approach and ability to connect to the light in each one of you. |
